You’ve got Mail! So how long until it arrives?

In a remote rural town, it's no surprise that receiving mail can take some time to arrive. The local post office does its best to process the mail for the influx of people that call Naknek their summer home.

Leader Creek Fisheries is located in rural Alaska and our mail is flown in daily. We often have delayed receipt of mail due to inclement weather or flying conditions. For this reason, mail can take up to a few weeks to arrive.

Once the mail arrives in the area, it goes through to the King Salmon Post Office. It then gets sorted and goes through to the Naknek Post Office. From there the staff, composed of two individuals, sort through the mail for every fishery with hundreds of employees! This can take some time because while the normal population of the town is around 600 people, this number balloons to over 5,000 during the summer!

Once Leader Creek picks up the mail, we have to sort it at our facility. From there it’s ready for you! You will be able to pick it up at the company store (more details to come during orientation). This whole process can range from a few days to a few weeks.

Mail packages to yourself early in the season. If your mail arrives to Leader Creek before you do, we will keep it safe for you. You can start mailing supplies to you as early as May.

Here are a few reminders for your mail.

●      The address to receive mail at Leader Creek Fisheries is

○      Your Name
 C/O Leader Creek Fisheries
 PO Box 449
 Naknek, AK
 99633

●      Be sure to write your name as we have it documented. If you go by a nickname, make sure to let us know so we know the letter/package is for you!

●      That C/O means Care Of and is important! The post office needs to identify your mail by the fishery name AND the PO Box.
