Leader Creek Throw Back: Favorite Memories
My favorite memory from my first year at Leader Creek has to be when I was packing the fastest line of roe. I never did that job (I would always weigh out the roe) so I wasn’t the best at it. It was peak season and we were overwhelmed with roe. A coworker and I were so far behind we had a mountain of roe next to us reaching higher than the converter belt. We were sleep deprived and for whatever reason it was the funniest thing. Eventually we had to ask for help to catch up. That memory stands out from my first year along with many other good ones. - Tim, Human Resources Helper
Meeting so many people and having amazing moments at the beach and hitch hiking into town. - Luna, Roe Room Lead
My favorite memory from my first season as a processor was my awesome roommates and friends I met at LCF. I loved having bonfires on the beach with everyone and watching the bears out on the river at low tide. -Meghan, Recruiter/Packing Junior Lead
My favorite part about my first season at Leader Creek was meeting so many interesting and unique people from all over the world. It was my first real solo adventure. All the people I met were very friendly. I loved that there was no cell phone service; everyone was so engaged with each other. The first day I met a group of people that I felt like I had known for years. We spent our free days before processing started exploring Naknek and King Salmon. We had bonfires on the beach where we met and got to know fishermen, locals, and people from other canneries. We ran into grizzly bears, saw bald eagles, and found some really cool trails through the tundra. I made friendships my first year that have lasted, one of them being my best friend whom I still see every week or so. I will never forget my first season at Leader Creek 12 years ago. - Dart, Vac Pac Lead
The first year was defiantly memorable and probably one of my favorite years because it was fun and challenging. Good times! A favorite memory is taking a walk at midnight and it was bright outside, like it was noon. - Tony, HR Generalist
One of my favorite memories from my first year was when I heard that it was the end of the season and I no longer needed to go to work. Knowing I had completed the entire season without missing any days felt like a massive accomplishment.
I also remember my feet hurt a lot. It was not until the end of the season that I finally realized I had one boot on that was two sizes smaller than the other. - Zach, Recruiter/Production Manager
My fav memory in my first year is the first time I learn how to cut fish. - Merly, Fish House Junior Lead
- Rose, Vac Pac Supervisora
My favorite memory from my first year at LCF is, one day I was walking down toward the Marina. I was tired, drained and hungry. I bumped into two guys working on the dock crew. In Spanish they told me "You can do this! You're almost there! You’re doing a great job!” These guys are Yucca & Luis and 11 years later, still some of the best people i’ve met. They really helped me through!” - Rose, Vac Pac Lead
My favorite memory from my first year as a processor is how hard I laughed at the description of a grilled cheese sandwich with my new friends on the index table in fish house. - Casey, Fish House Lead
My favorite memory my first year was definitely the camaraderie you felt in your department and with your shift! I remember being on C shift my first summer and we would literally do everything together! Meals, breaks, and whatever we got into after work. Playing countless hours of “guess that thing” at work to pass the time. These are still friends I have today! Just last weekend I got lunch with my first year roommate and her fiancé who she met in the fillet department! Live laugh love leader creek. - Carly, Packing Junior Lead
